Apostille Services in Azerbaijan
How does an “apostille” work?
Before obtaining an apostille Certificate for Azerbaijan issued public documents, you’ll need to verify that the destination country, receiving the document is a signatory/member state to the Apostille Convention (Hague Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Consular Legalization for Foreign Public Documents).
A public document issued in the State of Azerbaijan often has to be apostilled or legalized, i.e. officially verified and authenticated, when it is going to be used in a foreign country.
The Republic of Azerbaijan is a member state to the Hague Convention “Abolishing the Requirement of Consular Legalization for Foreign Public Documents of 1961” and, as such, an Apostille Certificate is often required before Azerbaijan authorities’ issued documents may be used abroad.
NOTE: Please find out whether you require an Apostille or Certificate of Authentication attached to their document. The authority you are submitting the document can advise you.
Documents that often have to be apostillised include:
• Police Clearance Certificates
• Birth Certificates
• Marriage Certificates
• Death Certificates
• Copy of Passport
• Copy of Driver’s License, etc.
In some cases, official Azerbaijan documents will have to be notarized before being apostilled (verified or authenticated).
For the foreign country to accept the Azerbaijan document as valid, proof must be made that the signatures and the document are legitimate, which is why there is an authentication process.
Depending on whether or not the country where the document will be used is a member of the Hague Convention will determine whether an Apostille or a Certificate of Authentication is required.
In summary: Apostille certification refers to the process followed by which the signature and seal on an official (public) document is verified. T & G Counsel handles all authentications of the government issued public documents, legalizations at the Foreign Embassies and consulates, obtaining duplicate documents, etc.
